Blog Optimization

Blog optimization may not be a term that you are familiar with if you are blogging for fun or if you have a family blog that keeps your family members apprised of what you may be up to.  If you have a business blog that is used for marketing or business reasons you will likely hear about blog optimization and wonder exactly what it is all about.  Like everything on the Internet these days, if you want a chance of having your content viewed by anyone it needs to be optimized.

Optimized for what you may ask? Search engines, of course! Search engine optimization is of utmost concern to blog owners these days. The reason for this is that when your blog is not optimized or set up a certain way the search engine robots, or crawlers, as they are often called, will not crawl your website the right way and your website will not turn up in search engine results. Search engine results are the way that you will get new visitors and potentially loyal readers and customers to your blog and business. Everything on a website, including your blog, needs to be optimized in such a way that the search engine bots can decipher what sort of content that your website provides so that it can list your website in relevant searches.

Blog optimization starts with your content. If you are blogging for business you should include keywords associated with your business in all of your blog posts. This usage of key terms in all of your blog posts will help the search bots to realize what you are selling, marketing, or offering through content on your website every time they crawl your site, which will mean that your site will be viewed as very consistent, which is a good thing. Blog optimization also has to do with including the proper Meta tags and html tags when writing your blog and creating your website. Meta tags are what truly communicate with the search engine bots when they crawl any particular site, so it is important that these are not forgotten or incomplete in any way. You can learn how to write meta tags quite easily, in fact there are free guides all over the Internet that will not only help you learn how to write them on your own, they will actually create them for you.

For most people, blog optimization takes a bit of time to get it just right. If you start out writing keyword rich content and using meta tags you are well on your way to getting your blog listed in search results with all the major search engines. Over time you can learn how to tweak your blog even more, but remember Meta tags, html tags, and keyword rich content will always be the key to the best blog optimization.
