Fantasy Football League Championship
I made it to the championship in my Fantasy Football league. The championship is decided by a two week playoff system, and this is the second week. I won the first week by five points (120 - 115), which means that I need to win this week or lose by less than five points to claim the championship.
I chalk up last weeks victory to some shrewd waiver moves I made.
- Picked up Sage Rosenthall QB Houston and started him in place of Carson Palmer QB Cincy.
- Picked up Neil Rackers Kicker Arizona and started him in place of Steve Gostkowski Kicker New England.
Without those two moves last week I lose and lose big.
With this being the final week (17) in the NFL, some of the playoff bound NFL teams are going to be resting their starters, most notably Dallas and Indy. This is a big problem for me since my Tight End - Dallas Clark (22 points last week) and one of my Running Backs - Marion Barber (23 points last week), will see very little playing time, if any. To make up the lose in production I plan on starting Aaron Stecker from NO at Running Back and Desmond Clark at TE from Chicago.
My roster this week is:
- Carson Palmer QB Cincy
- Brian Westbrook RB Philly
- Aaron Stecker RB New Orleans
- Brandon Marshall WR Denver
- Wes Welker WR New England
- Desmond Clark TE Chicago
- Neil Rackers K Arizona
- New England Patriots Defense/Special Teams
I'm torn on who to start at the WR spots. I have been thinking about starting Chris Chambers WR San Diego and Reggie Williams WR Jacksonville, but might as well go with the two players who got me to the championship. I still might change it or possibly bench Stecker and go with the run & shoot.
Wish me luck. There is lot of money on the line, the winner gets and extra $3,000 compared to $500 for the second place finisher.
Update: Wes Welker had a great game against the Giants (17points) but the Patriots Defense was horrible and only registered 3 points. My running back position is up in the air, Stecker is still listed as questionable and news reports state the Saints are going to platoon running backs against the Bears. What to do, should I start Marion Barber and pray the Cowboys play their starters, start Musa Smith who gets the nod for Baltimore, or play the run and shoot I could either play Chris Chambers or Reggie Williams in the flex position? This is why I hate week 17 playoffs.
Update #2: I won 125-117
. Carson Palmer (39 points) and Brandon Marshall (28 points) had monster games, and I ended up starting Musa Smith at the flex (14 points) instead of Aaron Stecker. Definitely a very nice way to usher in 2008.
